Division III District Semifinal: Zane Trace 3, Northwest 1 (9-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-19)
After dropping the night’s first match, the Pioneers (18-6) took three straight sets from Northwest to keep their season going.
Zane Trace was led by Lexi Scott with 14 kills, five assists and four digs, who was followed by Alli Bennett with nine kills, 11 assists and 14 digs. Meanwhile, Kinley May added 16 assists and nine digs, Lexi Betts had 14 digs, and Laynee Hill added four kills and a team-high 21 digs.
The Mohawks (18-4) were led by Haidyn Wamsley with 25 kills, eight blocks and 11 digs. Reagan Lewis added 41 assists, Ava Jenkins had 13 digs, and both Valerie Copas and Audrey Knittel logged seven kills.
The Pioneers will now meet with Adena in a Division III district final at 5:30 p.m., Friday at Waverly.
Division III District Semifinal: Adena 3, Southeastern 0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-16)
The Warriors (20-1) advanced into a district championship with a straight-set win over Southeastern on Wednesday.
After trailing 21-20 in the first set, Adena rallied for a 25-22 win and never looked back.
Individual statistics weren’t immediately available for the Warriors.
Southeastern (12-11) was led by Hannah Lougheed with 10 kills, nine assists and eight digs. Audrey Scott added to that stat line with six kills and five digs, and Alexis Bailes finished the night with five kills and three blocks.
Adena will meet with Zane Trace in a Division III district final at 5:30 p.m., Friday at Waverly.
Division III District Semifinal: Westfall 3, Huntington 0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-15)
For the third time this season, Westfall (16-4) beat Huntington on Wednesday.
The Mustangs used a combination of Kristin Phillips and Marissa Mullins at the net to hurt Huntington’s defense while Gabby Patete, Claire Latham, Lauren Daniels, Hailey Young and Kayla Fleischmann all played well throughout the evening.
Phillips logged 14 kills on the night alongside 12 digs, Mullins added 14 kills of her own alongside three solo blocks and 14 digs, and Latham tallied 30 assists and 12 digs. Also helping out was Young with three kills, six digs and five aces, and Daniels with three digs and four aces.
For Huntington (15-9), Megan Steele finished with 11 kills, 11 digs and six assists while Katie Hirsch added seven kills, five digs and 12 assists. Carly Dyer was also a factor, finishing with six kills and seven digs, while Harmony Henneberger and Emma Hinshaw each had 13 digs.
Westfall will now meet with Alexander in a Division III district final at 11 a.m., Saturday at Waverly High School.
Division III District Semifinal: Wheelersburg 3, Eastern Meigs 0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-18)
The Pirates had little trouble with visiting Eastern Meigs on Wednesday, winning in straight sets.
Leading Wheelersburg statistically was Emily Boggs with seven kills, 15 digs and 15 service points. Kaylee Darnell added eight kills and 15 digs, Lauren Jolly tallied 35 assists and 12 digs, Kylee Barney added 12 kills, and Jaiden Missler finished with 11 service points.
Wheelersburg will meet with Nelsonville-York in a Division III district final at 8:30 p.m., Friday at Waverly.
Division III District Semifinal: Nelsonville-York 3, North Adams 0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-14)
The Green Devils (18-6) ended their season with a loss to Nelsonville-York on Wednesday. Individual statistics were not available immediately after the contest.
Nelsonville-York advances to a Division III district final, where they’ll meet with Wheelersburg.
Division II District Semifinal: Athens 4, Jackson 1
The Ironmen (10-5-2) ended their 2020 campaign with a hard-fought road loss to Athens on Wednesday.
Jackson’s Trent Wolford scored the team’s lone goal while the Bulldogs were led by Brady Jaunarajs, who had a hat trick.
Division II District Semifinal: Gallia Academy 3, McClain 2
Like their FAC counterparts, the Tigers (10-4-2) ended their season on Wednesday as well, falling to Gallia Academy in a one-goal game.
McClain took a 1-0 lead but then fell behind 3-1 before scoring late in the second half.
The Tigers end the season as sectional and conference champions while the Blue Devils advance to meet with Unioto in a Division II district final at 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Zane Trace High School.
