Eastern Brown’s Rylee Leonard wins Athlete of the Week honors

SARDINIA — Not many players are as hot right now as Eastern Brown’s Rylee Leonard is.

She’s hitting the outside shot. She’s getting to the bucket. She’s making opposing defenses look silly.

This past week, Leonard scored a combined 39 points in wins over Ripley and Georgetown.

For all of the reasons above, Leonard has been named SOSA’s Athlete of the Week.

Out of 3,820 public votes, Leonard accounted for 1,829 or 47.9 percent of the total. Piketon’s Chris Chandler finished second in the voting with 1,219, Zane Trace’s Emily Allen was third with a count of 302, Paint Valley’s Olivia Smith came in fourth at 240, and McClain’s Bryson Badgley was fifth at 230.

Leonard received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, Leonard will receive a free t-shirt, thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing, and a free appetizer via Longhorn Steakhouse.
