Chillicothe’s Payton McBee wins Athlete of the Week honors

SOSA Staff Report

CHILLICOTHE — In a week where her team clinched yet another share of a conference title, Payton McBeee was, as usual, magnificent on the defensive end.

McBee, a senior, logged 118 digs and served up five aces in three matches, two of which were wins … including a five-set victory over Washington to claim the share of the Frontier Athletic Conference crown.

That performance allowed McBee to be voted as SOSA’s “Athlete of the Week.”

Out of 8,123 public votes, McBee accounted for 3,765 or 46.4 percent of the total. Southeastern’s Jarren Ford finished second in the voting with 3,329, Wheelersburg’s Lauren Jolly was third with a count of 557, Westfall’s Maddie Shoults was fourth at 385, and Unioto’s Jamarcus Carroll came in fifth with 87.

McBee received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For her efforts, McBee will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
