SOUTH WEBSTER — Competing in the sectional golf tournament last week, Andrew Smith brought his “A” game.

Smith, a senior, led South Webster by carding a 77 … good enough to capture co-medalist honors. It also allowed the Jeeps to advance to district play, where he shot an 88 to end his season and career.

For that effort on the course, Smith is SOSA’s sixth SOC Athlete of the Week, presented by The UPS Store.

Out of 2,058 public votes, Smith accounted for 1,118 or 54.3 percent of the total. Minford’s Ty Wiget finished second in the voting with 520, Northwest’s was third with a count of 275, Waverly’s Zoiee Smith was fourth at 75, and Notre Dame’s Ava Hassel came in fifth with 70.

Smith received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA as well.

For his efforts, Smith will receive a free t-shirt from The UPS Store, as well as meal coupons from the Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
