CHILLICOTHE β€” Heading into his senior year at Chillicothe High School, 6-foot-8 big man Brandon Noel will have his college decision behind him.

Noel, who transferred from Valley to Chillicothe after his freshman year, committe to Wright State University via Twitter Wednesday evening.

“First off, I want to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game that I love,” Noel wrote. “I want to thank my family and friends for their support over the years. Next, I want to thank my coaches from Lucasville Valley, Chillicothe and my AAU teams for all that they have done for me. I also want to thank the other coaches from the universities that recruited me. Lastly, a special thanks to AP Prep and to the others that have trained me individually over the years. With that being said, I am committing to Wright State University. Go Raiders!”

Noel helped his Cavaliers finish 16-7 overall this past winter and win a second consecutive Frontier Athletic Conference championship.

β€œI am extremely happy for Brandon to have this opportunity to play for a wonderful university and coaching staff in Wright State,” Chillicothe coach Eric Huffer said. β€œBrandon represents the very best in what it means to be a student-athlete. He succeeds in and out of the classroom. The hours of commitment and sacrifice he has made to achieve this goal has been completely worth it. I look forward to seeing the great things Brandon will accomplish while at Wright State.”

This past season, Wright State was 21-14 overall with a 13-5 mark in the Horizon League … good enough for a regular season championship. The Raiders’ season eventually ended with a 75-69 loss to Clemson in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).

As a Raider, Noel will play for coach Scott Nagy … who will be entering his fourth season at the helm of the program. Nagy is 66-36 with the Raiders and led the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2017-18.
