SOSA Staff Report

FRANKLIN FURNACE — After lifting his team to a win that clinched a share of a conference title and pitching five perfect innings earlier in the week, Green senior Tayte Carver has been voted as Southern Ohio Sports Authority’s “Athlete of the Week.”

On May 6, in a 10-0 win over Symmes Valley, Carver threw 48 pitches and struck out 11 batters en route to a five-inning perfect game. Three days later, Carver hit a walk-off three-run homer in the ninth inning of a 5-2 win over Clay, allowing Green to clinch a share of a third straight SOC I title.

Out of 2,886 public votes, Carver accounted for 1,303 or 45.1 percent of the total. Unioto’s Jayla Campbell finished a close second in the voting with 1,000, Unioto’s Paris DeBord was third with a count of 323, Waverly’s Cody Remington took fourth at 189, and Paint Valley’s Lea McFadden was fifth with 71.

Carver received two of the four votes from the guys at SOSA.

For his efforts, Carver will receive a free duffel bag from MOJO-USA, a free t-shirt thanks to Mile Tree Screen Printing and a free Wendy’s combo meal via Schmidt Family Restaurant Group.
